Cultivation of Cannabis: This Is How Moroccan Growers Will Be Trained

Moroccan cannabis farmers are set to receive comprehensive formalized training in the cultivation and management of cannabis. The news follows the recent passing of laws in the country allowing the cultivation of cannabis in designated regions. It is expected the training will aid both new farmers hoping to get a start, as well as existing farmers who, for the most part, are self-taught.

After adopting a law to promote the development of a Moroccan cannabis industry, Morocco is now preparing to develop this sector for legal uses. This obviously requires a skilled workforce, which implies large training programs are in urgent need.

Back to School

It is precisely for this reason that the Moroccan actors concerned are preparing to launch training sessions for the benefit of cannabis growers, reports the daily Assabah in its weekend edition. These training courses focus in particular on the techniques of growing cannabis, its processing and packaging, as well as the creation and management of cooperatives.

According to the Moroccan paper, Assabah, this subject is coming back to the fore after a long period of silence and at the time of the adoption of the law legalizing the cultivation of cannabis for industrial and pharmaceutical uses. One of the reasons for this renewed interest in the thing is, without doubt, the recent adoption by the governing council of a decree implementing this law, which notably delimits the cultivation areas for this plant.

Moroccan Growers Enthusiastic

These training sessions are arousing a great deal of enthusiasm among those concerned. A large number of farmers from the regions concerned have registered for these sessions. Indeed, in the past, the people who engaged in this activity had no training on the subject. They were content to sow the plant and ensure its water needs, nothing more.

Today, we offer them training in different agricultural techniques, seeds, fertilizers, and appropriate phytosanitary products, in order to obtain a good quality product and a better yield. These dense and accelerated training sessions will not stop at the technical aspect of growing the plant, but will also focus on the supervision and organization of Moroccan farmers.

Thus, the latter will be provided with training on the establishment and management of cooperatives. Which cooperatives can be created with a minimum of fifteen farmers, specifies the daily. The grouping of Moroccan farmers into cooperatives will enable them to carry out commercial transactions with pharmaceutical laboratories and with the dedicated national Moroccan agency. The cooperatives will thus be the single point of contact for the companies and the Agency.

Moroccan Cannabis Farmers to Access Bank Accounts

Among other advantages to which Moroccan farmers will be able to access, recalls the daily newspaper, the possibility of opening bank accounts and obtaining credits for the modernization of their production tools. In short, underlines the daily, well before the start of these sessions, several hundred people have already registered on the register opened for this purpose.
