Argentina’s first cannabis expo to promote health and technology

The cannabis industry is growing exponentially across the globe, and Argentina is no stranger to this global movement. From October 4-6, 2019, the first cannabis exhibition will be held in the country. Expo Cannabis Argentina is envisioned to be a meeting space between some of the best professionals, companies, scientists and leaders of the national and world cannabis culture.

The cannabis industry is growing exponentially across the globe. Especially in countries where its various uses became legal again after nearly a century of prohibition and demonization. Cannabis expos are all the rage.

In Canada, medicinal and “recreational” consumption has been allowed since 2018. Analysts estimate that both markets will generate by 2022 a movement of more than $5 billion.

In the United States, 10 states have already legalized adult consumption. The outlook is even more impressive: the cannabis economy will reach $15.4 billion over the next three years.

Argentina is no stranger to the new global movements around the marijuana plant. Very soon, the mythical Rural de Palermo will be the venue for the first cannabis expo in the country.

Embracing cannabis down south

Thought by its organizers as “a meeting space between those interested in everything cannabis has to offer. With some of the best professionals, companies, scientists, and leaders of the national and world cannabis culture,”. Expo Cannabis Argentina will take place from October 4-6, 2019.

For three days, La Rural will show the latest in scientific research. Additionally, they show the progress in therapeutic use and all the opportunities of the increasingly surprising cannabis industry.

There will be workshops for cultivation and oil production both for those who wish to take their first steps and for people who want to continue developing their relationship with the plant in a safe and responsible way.

History in the making

During the expo, for children under 10 years old who go with their parents, the entrance will be free of charge. There will be stands, workshops, conferences, art exhibitions, as well as meetings with NGOs, including Mamá Cultiva.

“It is designed for the whole family, and our slogan is ‘Come be part of history’ because the expo will be a before and after in the way Argentine society relates to cannabis,” commented Infobae Sebastián Basalo, director of the cannabis culture magazine THC and one of the organizers of the event.

For Basalo, the fact that the first exhibition on the marijuana plant takes place in a traditionalist venue such as La Rural shows its legitimacy in society.

In addition to knowing the technological advances and the best inputs for cultivation, the cannabis expo will also introduce international companies that seek to market medicinal products and oils in the country.

Among the conferences of doctors, scientists, officials and specialists from Argentina and all over the world, some topics that will be discussed are:

  • “How to talk about cannabis with your children”;
  • “The use of medicinal cannabis in pets”;
  • “Uruguay: details and results of cannabis regulation”;
  • “Science: influence of cannabis on sleep”;
  • “Third age: the use of oil in elderly people”;
  • “Care and risks of cannabis use in pregnancy”;
  • “Insomnia: how to treat it with cannabis”; and
  • “The therapeutic use of cannabis to treat stress”

Cannabis generated 300,000 jobs last year

There will be a full focus on the potentials of the plant: health, cosmetics, nutrition, textiles and even automotive.

“In the United States, the cannabis industry generated 300,000 registered jobs last year, and in Argentina, more than 200 specialized stores have already been created, generating jobs and paying taxes,” explained Basalo.

“All those who use cannabis whether to cure knee pain or laugh a while after work, what they are looking for is to feel good, and that is a fundamental component of health,” he further says.
