How healing are the properties of medical marijuana?

Medical marijuana is very controversial. For some, it is a drug, while for others, it is a natural remedy for a number of illnesses and diseases, with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. It is worth noting that the use of marijuana in medicine is not a new idea. There is evidence of people supporting cannabis in countries like India and China dating back to several thousand years old.

Medical marijuana consists of two substances and their proportions determine the plant’s effects. These are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). The first one handles putting the body into a state of intoxication. The second one—quite the contrary. CBD has an antipsychotic effect, it also has many other positive health effects.

Marijuana varieties

Like most plants, cannabis also has several varieties, and one of them is marijuana. It is almost completely deprived of psychoactive substances but has more pro-health CBD.

It is worth noting that the use of marijuana in medicine is not a new idea. There is evidence of cannabis in India and China dating back to several thousand years old. These plants were often used in fighting against stress, insomnia, and pain.

What does medical marijuana help relieve?

Epilepsy. Studies prove that cannabis helps control attacks and regulates their frequency. There are cases of cannabis reducing the number of seizures by more than 90%.

Autism. CBD and THC can help to cope with anxiety and aggression, reduces anger attacks.

Glaucoma. Cannabis can help reduce the pressure inside the eyeball.

Multiple sclerosis. Marijuana reduces the pain caused by MS.

Parkinson’s. Similarly, as in the case of multiple sclerosis, marijuana also has an analgesic effect; what is more, it also improves the motor skills of patients.

Asthma. Marijuana minimizes inflammation.

It can help with more intense health issues

Alzheimer’s. In this case, it is not CBD but THC that is helpful. It slows down the formation of the amyloid plates responsible for the destruction of brain cells. Regular use of cannabis can therefore significantly delay the next stages of the disease.

Bowel diseases. Both THC and CBD have a positive effect on the cells responsible for the functioning of the intestines. They both alleviate inflammatory conditions.

Cancer. Studies prove that CBD kills cells such as breast cancer. In this case, it is also necessary to mention the positive effect of medical marijuana on people undergoing chemotherapy. Regular use of this herb reduces the side effects of treatment such as nausea.

Possible side effects

Medical marijuana has a range of usages, but it is worth mentioning its possible side effects. These include psychological problems such as hallucinations, mood swings, and loss of control over the body. However, unless one’s body is sensitive, these effects will not occur often.

Other side effects may also include dizziness, dry mouth, accelerated heart rate or nausea. However, with proper and rational use of medical marijuana, they should not take place. So it is worth knowing.

Medical marijuana in action

Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to smoke medical marijuana in order to feel its effects. Medical marijuana comes in many forms that make it easier to use and more effective.

Medical marijuana is available in drops, pastes or creams for external use. Hemp seed oil is also known and available. It is for relieving stress, regulating the sleep cycle or reducing pain.
