Cannabis cosmetics are trending around the globe. As such, the Lessonia laboratory in France launched a range of body and face treatment products that include cannabis. Lessonia's Hemp Ingredients line consists of six natural ingredients, some of which are organic. The range of skincare products with soothing properties covers the facial and body needs with seven natural components.
Cannabis cosmetics are popping up in a variety of beauty stores in North America. As such, the trend of cannabis as a key component in cosmetic formulas is growing in France.
Faced with more restrictive European regulations banning molecules from hemp flowers, manufacturers are adapting with an offer of cannabidiol (CBD) extracted from the rest of the plant.
As such, the Lessonia laboratory has just launched a range of body and face treatments while positioning itself on the supply of CBD ingredients for formulators.
Medical cannabis is a sector that brings profit to the cannabis industry. One potentially useful marijuana news tool is the Hemp.im app and its companion marijuana news website.
Hemp.im provides the latest news about the CBD and hemp sector, which is predicted to be worth more than $14.67 billion by 2026.
According to French regulations, the cannabidiol molecule (or CBD), which has no psychoactive effect, is authorized in cosmetics.
This is provided that it is extracted from the stem, seeds or leaves, and not from the flower as permitted under American law. There must be no trace of THC in the finished product.
Based on these restrictive conditions, Lessonia has just developed a range of ingredients in addition to its finished product line presented in September, that could reassure brands that this new “super” ingredient will be integrated into their formulas.
“CBD is mainly concentrated in the flower and little in the other parts, so there are two possibilities, either using a synthetic CBD, which is prohibited on the American market, or extracting it from the stem. It is on this last solution that we have worked from authorized varieties of cannabis sativa,” explains Charles-Henri Morrice, Director of Innovation at Lessonia.
Devoid of THC, Lessonia’s Hemp Ingredients range consists of six natural ingredients, some of which are organic.
They include the CBD molecules of course, extracted from the stems, but also a CBD oil titrated to 1%, organic hemp oil obtained by cold pressing sativa cannabis seeds, and a floral water from the stems and leaves of the plant.
Formulated from these ingredients, the range of skincare products with soothing properties covers all body and facial needs with seven natural sources.
According to numerous publications, cannabis cosmetics combine different interests.
“We have cannabinoid receptors in the skin cells which allow anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing effects. It also reduces sebum secretion for acne-prone skin,” says Charles-Henri Morrice.
As a carrier linked to the concepts of naturalness and wellbeing, the cannabis ingredient seduces a young urban target group in various forms in search of novelty and surprises.
“In our range of skincare products, we have drawn the line to the fragrance of the smell of cannabis,” says Marion Lagadec, Director of Communications at Lessonia.
