Shoppers Drug Mart extends cannabis retail website

Canadian pharmacy, Shoppers Drug Mart, is launching a cannabis retail website and expanding its online sales service for medical cannabis to the Atlantic provinces.

Starting Dec. 3, patients in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador will be able to purchase medical cannabis on the company’s website. The cannabis product will be sent to them by post.

Medical cannabis is a sector that brings profit to the cannabis industry. One potentially useful hemp news tool is the Hemp.im app and its companion marijuana news website.

With this app, you can easily stay informed with the latest cannabis, hemp and marijuana news.

For residents who do not have the medical documents authorizing the use of medical cannabis, the company offers them the opportunity to consult a doctor online.

The doctor determines whether medical cannabis is appropriate for them, explains consultant Mike Boivin, a member of Shoppers Drug Mart’s medical cannabis advisory committee.

The product is available for sale in the form of dried flowers, oil or capsules and is only available through the cannabis retail website and not in brick-and-mortar pharmacies.

Health Canada only allows Shoppers Drug Mart to sell cannabis by mail order. The company launched its online sales service for medical cannabis in January, one month after receiving Health Canada’s authorization.

Initially, the service was only available to residents of Ontario. It is now available from coast to coast.

“Shoppers Drug Mart estimates that 1.1 million Canadians use cannabis for medical purposes,” said Mike Boivin based on Statistics Canada data. “About 800,000 of them purchase cannabis from authorized retailers or on the black market.”

The Canadian pharmacy has a number of cannabis agreements

The risks associated with self-medication are reduced when consumers have access to expert advice on medical cannabis.

“They can also inform patients of possible interactions between this product and the drugs they are taking,” added Mr. Boivin.

Shoppers Drug Mart announced in January that it had entered into supply agreements with approximately 10 producers of dried cannabis and cannabis oil.
