Reebok Releases Hemp Sneakers in Collaboration with Maharishi

Reebok and London-based streetwear brand Maharishi have announced a collaboration on a sneaker constructed in a hemp fabric. And while this isn’t anything new for Maharishi, a brand that has been incorporating hemp fiber as a fabric in its collections since the 1990s, it is a new direction for Reebok. But while the direction in materials might be new, it is heavily inspired by a classic design.

Reebok and London-based streetwear brand Maharishi have announced their collaboration, resulting in sneakers made from hemp fabric. The Maharishi brand has been incorporating hemp fiber as a fabric in its collections since the 1990s.

The shoe features a moro-colored rubber sole, chalk midsole, and white hemp fabric upper. They also feature a soft suede heel strap and terry cloth lining, as well as the Maharishi logo in a window on the side of the shoe.

Hemp Is Highly Versatile

“Hemp is one of the most versatile, resilient and advanced plants on Earth, which makes it especially important to Maharishi as a means of creating products,” Maharishi wrote on Instagram.

“It is a strong natural fiber that is naturally resistant to pests, which reduces its dependence on harmful pesticides. Once harvested, its decomposed roots enrich and strengthen the soil in which it grew.”

Hemp Sneakers Available Worldwide

According to the press release, the Maharishi x Reebok LT Court Hemp shoes were available for purchase starting October 28, 2022, exclusively from Maharishi, with a worldwide release on November 7 on Reebok.com and at retailers.

Hardy Blechman founded the Maharishi company in 1994. “Maharishi” literally means “great visionary” in Sanskrit and refers to the brand’s goal of creating sustainable and ethically produced clothing made from organic fibers.
